Every organization and everyone can submit to Rate It Green's green building calendar! Simply click register, verify your email address, and create a username and password. You can then decide if you'd like to engage more fully as a community member, but you'll be able to post events.
Please make sure to be respectful of the organizations and companies, and other Rate It Green members that make up our community. We welcome praise and advice and even criticism but all posted content and ratings should be constructive in nature. For guidance on what constitutes suitable content on the Rate It Green site, please refer to the User Agreement and Site Rules.
The opinions, comments, ratings and all content posted by member on the Rate It Green website are the comments and opinions of the individual members who posts them only and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies or policies of Rate It Green. Rate It Green Team Members will monitor posted content for unsuitable content, but we also ask for the participation of community members in helping to keep the site a comfortable and open public forum of ideas. Pro Tour: First Modular Passive House Building in NYC, October 3, Brooklyn, New York, NY
Event Description
In autumn 2023, in just two weeks, Paul A. Castrucci Architects shipped and assembled 47 modular units from Leola, PA, to East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The result was this four-story residential complex with an affordable, Passive House design. NESEA invites you to an in-depth tour of this innovative project, which aims to reduce energy use and embodied carbon, while embracing circular building design. This building is the first modular Passive House building in NYC. This 57-unit all-electric building was developed through the Senior Affordable Rental Assistance Program (SARA) and includes 18 units reserved for formerly homeless individuals referred by city agencies. The remaining units are open to the general public.
Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NSEA) event will begin with an opening workshop where the team will discuss the history, goals, and design and construction strategies. Attendees will then break into small groups to tour the facility while hearing more from the interdisciplinary team of experts who made the building possible. After the tour, we’ll regroup for a reception and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to chat with the day’s speakers and each other.
