Free Webinar: Residential Building Code Resilience and Affordability, December 2, 12 pm ET
Event Description
This course, based on a recent study, examines how state-level adoption of newer editions of the International Residential Code—codes designed to reduce losses from natural hazards, improve life safety, and enhance community resilience—is associated with changes in home sale prices and housing supply. It helps dispel the myth that codes automatically drive up housing prices as well.
Lessons Learned -
1. Understand that the adoption of updated building codes can significantly improve the health of communities by reducing the risk of losses from natural hazards.
2. Analyze how the implementation of the International Residential Code enhances life safety by establishing higher standards for home construction and resilience.
3. Introduce the idea that adopting new building codes does not necessarily lead to increased housing prices, countering common misconceptions that may affect community welfare.
4. Articulate the importance of community resilience and welfare, highlighting that improved building regulations can lead to a more stable housing supply and safer living environments.
Note - Even if you cannot attend, please register so we can send you the recording and follow-up article.
