Event Description

Tiny House Design offers ideas and strategies to help you envision and design an enriching small home. Yestermorrow will tour tiny houses (virtually or in person, depending on the course format), spark a dialogue about space-saving strategies, and engage in an imaginative process with interactive design exercises. You’ll learn a variety of tools to help communicate your ideas. Students completing this course will develop the skills necessary to continue working on their own small home design projects.

You will learn how to create and visually represent that program, become familiar with elements of design that are specific to small dwellings, research zoning and codes that are applicable to your locale, and understand structural and material factors that are relevant to construction.

Learning Objectives -

1. Explore conceptual design and select a parti (organizing concept) so you have a consistent touchstone to guide your design process.
2. Practice the design process from programming through schematic design.
3. Develop a small-space design vocabulary and concept.
4. Visually represent your program through models, floor plans, sections, and elevations.
5. Incorporate Building Science Principles into your designs to create healthy, safe, durable, efficient, and sustainable projects.
