In collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, USGBC is again offering the live Solar Decathlon Professional Training from January through March 2024. The Solar Decathlon Professionals (SD Pro) Program builds on the success of the Solar Decathlon collegiate competition from the U.S. Department of Energy to provide industry professionals with an opportunity to develop building science expertise and gain practical experience designing net zero energy projects.

This advanced-level course is designed for those familiar with general building sciences who want to learn more and apply it to green building projects or teach others. The training is a blended learning experience of on-demand content and live digital weekly sessions:

  • Held on Thursdays from Jan. 18 to March 21, 2024, 5–6:30 p.m. ET
  • On-demand Solar Decathlon Building Science Education online series
  • Live digital weekly sessions with the instructor and other learners for discussion, further instruction and project-based activities.
  • A net zero energy building design project activity
