Looking Ahead: What’s Next in Building Performance, Online, 20 August , 2 – 4 pm ET
Event Description

As building performance standards continue to evolve, there is growing interest in new approaches that could accelerate decarbonization, but many of these ideas have yet to be tested at scale.

In this session of the BPS in Practice: What Regulators, Evaluators and Program Designers Need to Get Right series, you’ll explore what’s next for building performance, including emerging strategies, persistent barriers, and the conditions needed to support innovation. We’ll look at why experimentation can be difficult in risk-averse environments and what it takes to move new ideas forward.

You’ll gain practical strategies for building support, designing effective pilots and creating opportunities to learn from both successes and challenges.

Whether you’re shaping programs, policies, or pilots, this session will help you think ahead and identify opportunities to drive meaningful progress.

You’ll leave this session able to:

• Recall promising approaches that haven’t yet been implemented at scale
• Explain the barriers that prevent experimentation in the current landscape
• Analyze institutional risk factors that inhibit innovation
• Evaluate strategies for creating space for experimental approaches
• Design experiments that generate learning regardless of outcome
