Event Description
This comprehensive, six-hour class, taught over two three-hour sessions, offers a deep dive into the fundamentals of heat pumps: their origin, capabilities, operation, and fundamentals of installation. During the course, participants will gain practical knowledge and skills necessary for understanding the components, function, operating modes, and fundamentals for installing heat pump systems. The curriculum covers the best practices in the industry. This two-day training course is not only an excellent opportunity to build your skills, but also prepares you to earn industry-recognised credentials. This course is designed to prepare attendees for the more advanced High Performance Heat Pumps course.

Mr. Grunstra has over forty years of experience in the mechanical trades. Tom’s career began as an apprentice riding in service trucks, working on residential and commercial HVACR systems ranging from split systems to 400-ton chillers. Over the years, he has held positions as technician, service manager, sales manager, instructor, and director of training for an international equipment manufacturer. His experience also extends into building maintenance and industrial laundry systems, providing a broad understanding of mechanical operations and service. Today, Tom is contributing to the development of educational materials for the ESCO Institute, supporting technicians and educators as they adapt to advancing technologies. He is dedicated to creating practical, accessible training that simplifies complex systems and promotes hands-on learning for the HVACR workforce.
