Carbon Literacy for Schools, Online Training
Event Description

Carbon Literacy is ‘An awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.’

Join the Change Agents team as we take you through five ‘steps’ to Carbon Literacy:

  1. The climate science + context

  2. Climate equity + carbon footprints

  3. Zero-carbon schools

  4. Sustainability leadership

  5. Taking action

These will make you feel more confident, hopeful, and able to make a difference as you learn about:

  • Fundamental science behind human-induced climate change

  • Individual and organisational carbon footprints and emissions

  • Resilience to climate change impacts

  • Net zero: what it is and how we can achieve it

  • How climate action can improve our school's aims

  • How to communicate about the climate crisis

  • Green skills & climate education

Are you interested in learning more about carbon footprints and how we can achieve net zero? Have you struggled to communicate with others who don’t seem interested? Are you a Sustainability Lead, not knowing what to do next?

Then join interactive, informative, and inspiring training to develop skills and become fully Carbon Literate, certified through the UN-supported and internationally recognised Carbon Literacy Project!

To achieve the certification, candidates will need to then submit a short evidence form, including a personal and professional pledge, to the Carbon Literacy Project (CLP), who certifies them.

With the UK Department for Education mandating all education settings in England have a climate action plan and sustainability lead, now is the time for carbon literacy in schools. Our education team have a background in schools and are a partner on the Department for Education's Climate Ambassadors scheme, so are well placed to create impact in setting-specific action.
