Event Description

North America's leading passive building conference is coming to the Southwest for the first time. PhiusCon 2026 brings architects, engineers, developers, policymakers, manufacturers, and building scientists from across the continent to downtown Phoenix. Conference leaders and attendees will explore how high-performance building can improve occupant comfort, reduce cooling demand, and strengthen grid resilience in communities facing extreme heat, water scarcity, and rapid growth. This year's program leans on local practitioners for insights on designing and building in hot, dry climates, alongside a range of sessions that have made PhiusCon a must-attend event for industry leaders.

Session topics include passive house strategies for hot-dry climates, a case study on Pueblo tribes and rural communities of the Southwest, low-income multifamily construction, tall multifamily buildings at scale, operational and embodied carbon, deep energy retrofits of historic buildings, and whole-building airtightness testing. 

The three-day program includes:

• Pre-conference workshops on October 8

• A Phius project tour on October 8, showcasing certified buildings in the region

• An exhibit hall featuring leading high-performance building manufacturers 

• Sessions, panels, and Q&A with industry experts 

• The unveiling of the Phius Passive Projects Design Competition winners 

• The annual PhiusCon After Party networking event
